When to Meditate It is considered important to meditate daily or at least with uniform regularity and this is why: Regular meditation is like taking our daily temperature; each meditation session, no matter how brief, samples the state of our mind. You sample it. You see how it is. If there is no regularity, then we have no way to measure how calm or wild our mind is. If we sit a lot one day and none the next two days it is very difficult to gauge (remember) just how we are doing. And consistently watching your mind is very much a part of meditation. It is the whole point here: sampling and starting to know the mind.
