Here are a series of articles on Ann Arbor, Michigan culture in the late 1950s and 1960s. It mostly some history of the time from my view and experience. I could add more to them, but I’m getting older by the day and I feel it is better to get something out there for those few who want to get a sense of Ann Arbor back in those times. I have edited them, but only roughly, so what you read is what you get. I hope there are some out there who can remember these times too. As for those of were not there, here is a taste as to what Ann Arbor was like back then. |

84 Mahasiddhas Practice This is a little pecha-format .PDF file that can be looked at either on your computer or… what I did… Was to take it to Staples and had them print it out in color, back to back. What you want is: Copy 1 to 2 (back to back) Legal Size 60lb paper (have to reduce from 11x17 pehaps) Each legal-size sheet has two pages of pecha. The top page of each, fits the bottom page of the next two, and so on. It makes a lovely pecha, but note: I don’t own or have rights to the images, so these should only be used by those who went to the empowerment or in our close community of retreatants and advanced students. “Advanced” here means they won’t distribute it to anyone else without a good reason. Drawings based on the Abhayadatta System, by Jonang Taranata (1575-1635), murals in the Ganden Puntsogling Monastery in Tibet.

This is a brief history (in pictures) of the lineage of the Mahamudra tradition for students of the Ven. Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche at KTD (Karma Triyana Dharmachakra) monastery. It can be useful for those doing Guru Yoga.
This is a version that is designed to be printed out in rectangular pecha format -- Two sided. There are six sections, each with two pages. To print correctly, the first two images are printed as shown, straight up. The 3rd and 4th have to be printed upside down on the back of the first two pages. The next two pages (5th and 6th) are printed as shown (straight up), and the 7th and 8th are printed upside-down on the back side of pages 5 & 6.
Then, pages 9 & 10 are printed as shown, with the final two pages 11 and 12 printed upside-down on the back of pages 9 + 10. If you study the flow of the lineage, you will see how this is put together. Take it two your local Staples and they can do it. |

This prayer is called “The Verses of the Eight Auspicious Ones” is commonly known as the “Tashi Prayer.” It is a bit long and frequently recited before undertaking any task or trip. It has a lot of hard-to-pronounce names in it that are part of the lineage, so it’s a bit of tough sledding until you get to know it. Some of you might like to have it, so here it is in a printing version (2-sided). |

This is a talk about liberation through seeing, and the message here is meant to be a catalyst, rather than to make any particular point or answer. It is about liberation through whatever we do in life, like: what we do each day. I’m not saying this approach is for everyone, but I am saying that it may be useful for some of you. In particular, those who struggle with practicing dharma too formally and are having trouble with enthusiasm.

I am working on a series of small books that show what various close-up (ones I use) lenses do at each of the main apertures. This may not be useful to anyone, in which case ignore it. But for those trying to decide where to put their money in lenses, it could be a help. This first booklet includes lenses I have talked about often. Following soon are a whole bunch of enlarger-style barrel lenses, some that are remarkable and cost relatively very little.

I thought some of you astrology buffs might like to wander through the past a bit. I am amazed that I published these in linen stock and in full-color and sent it through the mail. I know it that it cost a small fortune. Somewhere in the 1990s it became too expensive to do. Design credits to Michael Erlewine, Tom Erlewine, and Martin Machnowski |
